Compliance to BS 8901 can be claimed by any organisation that is involved in the events industry. The organisation needs to have clearly defined its role and the scope of its activities with respect to delivering events.
Evidence needs to be sufficient to demonstrate that the event management system:
- is an integral part of the event management process and not an additional “add-on” component
- meets the requirements of the standard
- has influence throughout the supply chain
- meets any contractual requirements imposed by contracting organisation with overall responsibility for sustainable event management
Compliance can be verified by the organisation itself (self-declaration) a second party (i.e. stakeholder) or an independent third party (i.e. certification body).
