Maturity Matrix
The development of a maturity matrix is a specific requirement of BS 8901. The matrix is a pictorial representation of the maturity of your management system with respect to managing events more sustainably.
Although BS 8901 provides a generic maturity matrix, you will be expected to develop one that reflects your organisation and meets your specific needs. The matrix needs to be built upon your core principles, practices, key sustainability issues and critical management processes.
We can help you develop your matrix based upon your key sustainability principles (such as inclusivity, integrity, stewardship and transparency for example) and practices. For each of your practices, we will define management and performance characteristics or criteria with respect to sustainable development. We will ensure these practices and performance criteria reflect the nature of your organisation and its activities and operations.
These criteria will be defined along a scale ranging from “minimum involvement/ad hoc management” to “full engagement/proactive management/best practice” thereby providing you with a clear roadmap to developing more sustainable events.
Once we have completed your matrix, will can determine your current position on your matrix and provide you with your “maturity profile”. This can feed into your objective and target setting process to ensure that you progress along the matrix in an effective manner.
We can help you routinely measure your progress along the matrix to demonstrate that you are continuously improving your management system, capabilities and outcomes
